Rattletale Crack, 10B, Index

Fletch, Lisa and I climbed Rattletale Crack on a hot July 7th, 2012

You can find RattleTale crack by heading up toward Private Idaho. Stay left at all the trail junctions. When you come to the cliff, traverse left along the base until you see a beautiful open book going up the wall in three steps.

Fletch starting up second pitch of RattleTale crack, Index, 10B.

Fletch nearing the top of pitch 2. This is continous hands, #2 yellow camalots. Towards the top it opens up slightly to blue #3 camalots. I was able to get good, if slightly loose hands all the way up. It overhangs and tilts right for a bit of a barn door effect. This is magnificent crack climbing!

Fletch gunning for the rest at the top, Lisa belaying.

I went next and Lisa pulled clean up duty. It got too big for her hands. She said later she didn't want to fist jam and went for the layback. The edge is not sharp...but she made it work.

This new lens captures very true colors. 24 - 105 L.

Lisa leads the last pitch. It's the shortest one, but don't let that fool you. All three pitches have a stinger. On this one it's the wide stem.

Two of my favorite climbing partners.

Lisa on the rap down. I was experimenting with fill flash.

There is a beautiful white wall off to climbers right.

Barefoot rappel

It was so hot we decided to have some beer by the river instead of another pitch.

Fletch is working on "Needle and the damage done," by Neil Young.

It was very lovely by the river.

The best kind of climbing partner.

Fletch laying it down.

This girl is a live one :-)
