Sunday, July 11, 2010, 7PM. 2 hours of work. I haven't painted in 9 months.
Monday, 7pm, another two hours of painting on location.
Three more hours of painting and it's done, Tuesday. I'm out of practice, I know I used to be much better, but it was still a ton of fun. Painting reminds me of who I truly am, and where my heart lies.
The Sea Fury, painted in 1997 when I was laid off from a printing job and had been painting full time for 3 weeks. SOLD, prints available. I love the way this one is so clearly a painting, and makes no pretensions to be photographic. There is nothing like constant practice to bring out your talent. It hurts to remember how good I was back then. I was unemployed, completely broke, but painting like a dream.
The Sea Fury, painted in 2000, SOLD, prints available. I was working again as a web designer, so my talent had begun to ebb away.
7-18-2010, 2:30 hours. This boat is docked by the new Red Rooster Restaurant in Gig Harbor, right across from the police dock. I love the vignette effect in this painting. I said what I wanted to say, and stopped before I ruined it.
